The role
This is a full-time role for an IBM DB2 LUW Database Administrator in Bengaluru. You will work in the office as part of a database team. The role covers the day-to-day administration of DB2 databases, including security, backup and recovery, capacity planning and performance tuning.
Your day will include monitoring database performance and recommending improvements. You will check databases for locks and failed updates, manage logins and permissions for users, and plan space and data maintenance. You will also run daily and weekly backups, carry out redirected restores when needed, and help implement new features and fixes. You will support production systems on call and work across different time zones.
We are looking for hands-on experience installing DB2 versions on Red Hat Linux. You should know how to schedule shell scripts on Linux and use RUNSTATS, REORGCHK and REORG to improve performance. Experience with IMPORT, LOAD and EXPORT under high volume, DDL generation with db2look, and tuning with db2advis and db2expln is needed. You should also be able to configure and monitor HADR.
Good knowledge of database security standards is required. Knowledge of AWS or other cloud platforms is an added advantage. Experience with DB2 pureScale, Pacemaker setup for HADR, or DB2 architecture and solution design will also help. You should communicate clearly, be a good team player, and be flexible in your approach.
